The Cork City PPN Climate Action, Environment & Natural Heritage Linkage Group had no meetings in 2025.

The Cork Local Drugs & Alcohol Taskforce oversees the local delivery of National Drugs Strategy, reducing harm and supporting recovery.

This year’s National PPN Conference will be held on 24 and 25 September 2026 in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, Co. Roscommon. This year's is “Empowering Communities through Connection, Collaboration and Cohesion”.  Roscommon PPN are working hard to put together a wonderful event.  

 

The Annual Conference is all about nationwide networking among PPN members, Secretariats, PPN Representatives, PPN staff, Local Authority staff, and others to share experiences and learn from one another. It is also a means to showcase the work of PPNs and highlight best practice.

Funding: UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

 

The Department of Social Protection is providing funding this year to support anti-poverty groups to organise activities to promote awareness of the UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty held on the 17 October in the context of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Funding: Biodiv’Sport Grant Programme 2026

 

Play For Nature will provide technical and up to €5000 financial support to associations that carry out biodiversity conservation projects. This edition funds projects combining sport and biodiversity conservation objective as well as the awareness of the local populations concerned by the project.

Funding: Community Media Scheme

 

The Coimisiún na Meán Community Media Scheme aims to support a sustainable, inclusive and participative community media sector that delivers social benefit for communities across Ireland.

 

The fund is open to existing licensed community television and radio broadcasters across Ireland. Funding can be provided for activities including training, community outreach and the advancement of the Irish language, and initiatives that support inclusivity and accessibility.

Funding: Energy For Generations Fund

 

The ESB Energy for Generations Fund disburses €1 million per year across a range of community and issues-based initiatives to charities working in the areas of social inclusion relating to access to education, access to employment, and homelessness.   

The fund supports actions consistent with their purpose and values, advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering social inclusion.

Funding: Tuath Housing Climate Action Fund 2026

 

Tuath Housing has invited residents to apply for funding to support community-led projects focused on climate action and sustainability. 

The organisation has launched its Climate Action Fund for 2026 and is now accepting applications from residents with sustainable ideas for their communities.

Funding: Huawei Solar Sports Scheme

 

 The Huawei Solar Sports Scheme grant programme is designed to support and invest in grassroots sports clubs across the community. 
The Scheme will award five (5) cash grants of €10,000 each, totalling €50,000 in available funding, to eligible sports clubs that demonstrate a clear need for financial support and the capacity to deliver meaningful benefit to their members and the wider community.

Awards: Carmichael's Good Governance 2026
 

Any nonprofit organisation in Ireland, whether a charity, company, sports club or community association, can enter its annual report and financial statements into the Awards for free and it will receive individual feedback to help improve future annual reports. 

Nonprofits with an annual income of less than €100,000 that apply are also eligible to win up to 3 free places on Carmichael’s Scheduled Training Courses.

Event: I.D.E.A. Exchange Disability Access Budgeting in the Arts

 

This event will appeal to both arts workers and artists that wish to get informed about Disability Access Budgeting, especially those aiming to apply for 2027 Cork City Council Arts Funding that require financial support to cover Personal Disability Access Costs.

Attendees will hear from artists that were awarded arts funding and succeeded in also securing financial support to cover Disability Access Costs to make it possible to realise the proposal that was funded. Attendees will also hear from an arts worker that supported an artist's application for arts funding and Disability Access Costs.

Focus Group Invitation: Assistive Technology and Smart Home supporting Independent Living

 

The National Disability Authority (NDA) is seeking participants for an upcoming online focus group as part of a project exploring how housing-related assistive technology and smart home technology can support disabled people and older people to live independently. The findings will inform guidance for government.

Consultation Events: Cork Anti-Racism & Inclusion Charter

 

Individuals, organisations, community groups, activists, and representatives from all social and cultural backgrounds who are interested in being part of developing the Cork Anti-Racism and Inclusion Charter are invited to express interest.

Two structured consultation meetings are being held for participants to discuss racism in local contexts, identify key priorities, and contribute ideas for actions that support equality, inclusion, and anti-racism in Cork.

Survey: Understanding Climate Concern and Eco-anxiety

What are the links between climate anxiety, eco anxiety  and mental health? Which scales can be of most help to clinical practitioners in Ireland?

Survey: Study on Trust in Town Planning

 

Researchers at UCD are looking for participants living in Cork City to participate in a short computer-based activity (about 10 minutes total) to help them learn more about how people form judgements about the planning system.

Planning decisions shape where we live, work, and spend time. But trust in the system is complicated.
This research looks at how gut reactions and conscious opinion interact, and what it would take to make planning genuinely more trustworthy.

The Irish Senior Citizens Parliament and Age Action have published a new Participation Charter, informed by 764 responses to the national consultation and dedicated evidence-based research.

 

"Age Action Older people should not only be consulted. They should have meaningful, accessible and sustained opportunities to shape the decisions that affect their lives, communities and society."

 

The Charter sets out ten practical principles for the meaningful participation of older people.

Ireland’s first and only Permanent LGBTQ Exhibition is opening this month in Cork. to mark the 50 years anniversary of  Cork’s first Gay Centre opening in 1976.⁠

The Cork Migrant Centre at Nano Nagle Place is seeking volunteers to support their Conversational English Classes. Experience is welcome but not essential.

The Everyman: Theatre Making Citizenship Course

 

TMACC – Community is a brand-new collaboration with Cork City Partnership Participants that supports participants to become theatre makers themselves.  Through the workshops they will explore writing, devising, designing, technical craft and performance, as well as engaging with live theatre and performance. It consists of 10 fun, free and inclusive sessions with a behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre, daytime professionally facilitated workshops, a showcase on stage and evening outings to The Everyman.

Concern: Free Global Citizenship Education Offerings

 

The World & Me Coffee Conversations is a brand-new offering aimed at community groups and organisations. 

 

Concern runs an education programme for adults and youth to support people to be active global citizens.

Further 90-to-120-minute interactive workshops on Global Justice aim to develop participants knowledge of the root causes of issues, critical thinking skills to question existing narratives around them and spark inspiration to act locally on global issues. Thematic areas include climate change, conflict, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), inequality, and hunger.

Cork Simon Community: Social Integration Outreach Support Worker

Cork Simon Community’s Social Integration and Participation Service, an essential part of Cork Simon’s holistic supports, provides a sustainable route out of homelessness and empowers people to return to work and live in local communities.

ILMI VOICE Project: New 6 Week Course

 

If you are a disabled person living in Kerry, Tipperary, Cork, Waterford, Wexford, Carlow or Kilkenny, join this free online six week course starting in September. 

VOICE is designed for disabled people by disabled people. It is a space to connect with other disabled people, build confidence, share experiences and take action on the issues that matter in your community. After there will be opportunity to stay involved in the VOICE Project.

Resource: Residents’ Association Quick Guide and Handbook

 

Recognising the importance of these groups, Cork County Council's Social Inclusion, Community & Rural Development Strategic Policy Committee developed a practical resource to support both new and existing associations across the county.

 

The Quick Guide provides an accessible introduction for residents interested in getting involved in their community, offering clear and simple steps on how to establish and run a Residents’ Association. The more comprehensive Handbook builds on this, delivering detailed guidance on governance, committee roles, effective communication, organising meetings, and accessing funding and supports. It also outlines how Residents’ Associations can work constructively with Cork County Council and other stakeholders.

Reusable Cups For Non-profit Community Events

 

Ireland’s first Circular Cups for Community Events initiative has recently launched in the Southern Region to provide local not-for-profit community events with access to high-quality reusable cups, designed to eliminate single-use waste at their events.

How it works

- Requested cups delivered clean to event locations

- After the event, they are collected and professionally washed

- Each circular cup can be reused up to 300 times

- Organisers pay only for transportation and a nominal washing fee, plus a deposit for losses.
